t Institute at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said China
‘s agricultural sector was plagued by inefficient production practices for上海会所品茶微信
many years, while annual output was highly susceptible to changes in climate.
For example, from 1959 to 1961 large parts of the country experienced a severe drought.上海会所
In 1961, the arid conditions reduced the total crop yield by 61 million metric tons, a 30 percent fall from 1958.
Since the early 1980s, the central leadership has attached great significan
上海会所ce to agricultural innovation. In 2015, investment in scientific and technological research reached 55 billion yu
an ($7.8 billion at today’s rates), compared with 720 million yuan in 1978, Du said.
According to the ministry, more than 96 percent of fields dedicated to the cultivation上海会所品茶微信
of major crops, including rice, corn and wheat, are sown with high-yield, resilient species.
上海会所A number of crop-breeding platforms that employ scientifically proven approaches-such as the use of “dwarf-st
erile” wheat, the “super rice” system and hybrid corn breeding-have been established to fast-t
rack improvements in edible crops and ensure the food supply is reliable and safe in the long term.
The wide application of modern farming techniques ha上海会所品茶微信
s also helped farmers to raise yields and reduce damage to the environment.
At present, environmentally friendly methods are used to prevent and control pests on 56.7 mill
ion hectares under cultivation, accounting for 15 percent of the total area affected by such pests.
上海会所Meanwhile, smarter use of pesticides in demonstra
tion areas has reduced the use of chemicals by 20 to 30 percent, the ministry said.
The use of fertilizers has been further contained as a result of a nationwide campaign l上海会所品茶微信
aunched in 2005. It aims to tailor the use of synthesized fertilizers to suit local soil conditions
and improve awareness of the scientific management of fertilizers among farmers.
Port calls often serve as a barometer of China-US ties. Last year, China canceled the vi
sit to Hong Kong of amphibious assault ship USS Wasp after Washington approved a $上海会所
330 million sale of military equipment to Taiwan and sanctioned the Chinese military over a Russian arms deal.
上海会所品茶微信In 2016, aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis and four ships in its strike group were denied port visits to Hong Kong after t
he US criticized China’s activities in the South China Sea. China also denied similar visits by US warships in 2014 and 2007.
Warship port calls to Hong Kong are defense and diplomatic affairs t上海会所
hat require special permission by the central government in Beijing, according to the Basic
Law of the HKSAR. The Hong Kong government is tasked with hosting and carrying out the details of such events.
Port call activities typically consist of diplomatic exchanges, repairs, refueling, restocking of supplies and local tours, sho上海会所品茶微信
pping and other friendly and relaxing activities. The Consulate General of the United States in Hong Kong and Macao is task
ed with submitting requests and other information regarding US naval port calls.
Li Haidong, a professor of US studies at China Foreign Affairs University, said the US Navy has a long track record of port visits上海会所
to Hong Kong given its strategic location, and requests for such visits must be submitted in advance.
“Hong Kong has been in turmoil for months now. Coincidence or n

The resumption of the China-Japan strategic dialogue is a key sign that Beijing an上海会所
d Tokyo have pushed forward their bilateral relations on the right track and forged closer ties, said Lu Hao, a re
上海会所品茶微信searcher at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences’ Institute of Japanese Studies.
Official exchanges and communication mechanisms, including the strategic dialogue, were suspended after the two cou
ntries became mired in a dispute over China’s uninhabited Diaoyu Islands in the East China Sea.上海会所
Lu said the strategic dialogue mechanism plays a vital role for the two neighbors, especial
ly as they are both facing unprecedented conditions and a rapidly changing global environment.
上海会所品茶微信”The dialogue not only focuses on improving bilateral ties but also touch
es on some of the important regional and international issues of common interest,” Lu
said, adding that boosting mutual understanding and cooperation between China
and Japan, the world’s second-and third-largest economies, helps promote regional stability and prosperity.上海会所
On Friday, while meeting with Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono, Le, the vice-minister, said China and Japan should k
eep up the positive momentum brought by the improved ties and enhance short-term goals while strengthening long-term ones.
Describing the meeting in Osaka between Xi and Abe as fruitful, Kono said Japan is expecting a state visit by Xi next spring and i上海会所品茶微信
willing to work with China “in various fields and face global challenges shoulder to shoulder”.
Zhou Yongsheng, a professor and deputy director of the Ja
panese Studies Center at China Foreign Affairs University, said, “As Sino-J上海会所
apanese relations have shown signs of warming in recent years, both
上海会所品茶微信countries should cherish the momentum and build new relations featuring a shift from
competition to collaboration under the guidance of the strategic dialogue mechanism. Prom
oting Sino-Japanese ties will benefit the peace and prosperity of Asia and improve global governance.”

A new cartoon film, Ne Zha, based on a mythical male figure in Chinese folklore who is famo上海会所

上海会所story while reviving memories of one of the best cartoon films in China’s modern history.
Within four days of hitting screens, the film registered sales of 700 million yuan ($101.55

Even on Douban, China’s equivalent of Imdb where audiences and commentat
ors are rather critical, it got a rating of 8.7 out of 10, possibly one of the highest in the website’s history.
上海会所In simple words, Ne Zha has won unprecedented high popularity from the market
and applause from professionals, which is quite rare. Not surprisingly, Ne Zha is often depicted as a young hero stan
ding on two flaming wheels in Chinese legends and literary classics such as “Journey to the West”.上海会所品茶微信
But on domestic social networking sites, some have expressed worry about the film, comparing it
with Prince Ne Zha’s Triumph Against the Dragon King, a traditional cartoon film that hit screens

Even more interesting is that the shipper sued the US Commerce Department on June 24 to stop th上海会所品茶微信

上海会所In the lawsuit, the shipper complains that to comply with the export controls it has to screen the na

It seems that FedEx is just the fall guy for the US government.
It is natural for its Chinese customers, particularly those that are on the list or supplier

ne to acting as a tentacle of the long-arm jurisdiction the US government so delights in.
China has announced it is drawing up an unreliable entity list and FedEx上海会所品茶微信

this endeavor. Youku started its digital restoration project in 2017, with many results. E
arlier this year, iQiyi also launched its own restoration project featuring the use of ZoomAI, a video-en上海会所
hancing solution devised by the company, to restore and remaster 50 select TV dramas.
上海会所Before the adoption of new technologies, restoration of the old works, most often in lower resolution, was done manually and it
took a day to restore a 40-minute-long episode. Now, iQiyi’s ZoomAI software, comprising algorithm modules suc
h as color enhancement, sharpening, and white balance, can restore a high resolution feature film in just one hour.上海会所
The restoration process starts with scanning the film negatives or prints into a digital pict
上海会所品茶微信ure and raw sound format. Then each frame of the scanned material undergoes an automated digital res
oration process that involves the correction of color, brightness, and contrast. The process also involves the dig
ital removal of scratches and unnecessary noises, restoration and remastering of sound, said Liu Junhui, a senior director from iQiyi.上海会所
Even with the aid of AI technologies, digital restoration of old productions is no mean fea
上海会所品茶微信t, as increasing the image resolution is one thing, but restoring its original texture is quite another, which requ
ires technologies, as well as a craftsmanship spirit. For instance, 30-plus members of the Youku digital res
toration team worked for as long as a month to fully restore the 1983 megahit, The Bund.
“Our team has made various attempts to enhance audiences’ viewing experien上海会所
ce. If only the definition is increased through transcoding, audiences may feel that the im
ages have been doctored through filters. So we went to great lengths to restore the texture that is unique to the pe
riod when the classical series was shot,” said Guo Linna, a senior visual optimization engineer from Youku. 上海会所品茶微信
Though Youku’s digital restoration team is made up of no more than 40 members who
do not work full time, every week it can restore 100-plus episodes of old TV dramas.
Speaking of her original motivation, Guo said that she chose to restore those old TV series because on the one hand, she wa

ted the younger generation to gain new experience through watching these classic works.
